The story of Dekadent goes back at the end of the 90's, when Artur Felicijan started his Black Metal project called Greygap. Original idea behind the music Greygap performed was straight Black Metal with strong influences of ambiental music. A two track demo was recorded in the early 2000 with now almost forgotten "The Straight Line of Creatures", a mysterious song that left it's mark in the underground, but remained hidden and almost every trace of it was lost. At that time Artur was also recording "Per Aspera" for Noctiferia and both the other members of Greygap found interests of their own. Greygap eventually disbanded, until Artur left Noctiferia in 2002 and started to bring Greygap back to life. That exact year a new demo track was recorded and the project for the first time featured female vocals. The music had distanced from the early Greygap recordings and was getting more common to what Dekadent is today.
