It’s the 21st century so it shouldn’t surprise you that Zachary Randall (vocalist, guitarist) and Ken Hayward (bassist) formed South Florida’s heavy metal band “Antitheist” after meeting up through a Craigslist ad. Heavy metal bands are assembled everyday, all with the same eagerness to be louder, darker, heavier, and more aggressive than their predecessors. Antitheist doesn’t deter from that path, they only make it essential to incorporate their elected title of defiance in every chord, riff, and lyric, branding black metal profoundly with artistic sophistication.
Randall, the band’s leader comes from a family of musicians and has been playing
guitar for over 15 years. Hayward is an ex member of the death metal band Impurityin Gainesville, Fl. Call it fate as they come together in South Florida to bring you passionate metal that’s devoted to freethinkers, protest against patriarchal authority, and condemn irrational beliefs associated with religion and its accompanying paternalistic
myths.
Heading into his mid-thirties Randall is the band’s core songwriter, producer, and
vocalist. He moved from Mentone, IN to work in south Florida after graduating college. He is currently a full-time software engineer and on the side operates his recording studio “Shadowlit.” Randall has had an appetite for music since childhood and on several occasions attempted to assemble the band all ending in failure. But with Hayward at his side Antitheist is ready to be heard. On Oct 2nd they will release their first single “Bridging the Gap.” Following up with the EP “Heretical Musings” which will be ready by late November, and a full LP no later than winter’s end. At this time Antitheist will set out on a mini tour along the east coast.
Antitheist is influenced by legendary musicians such as Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Ronnie James Dio, James Hetfield, Ihsahn, Abbath, Jon Nodtveidt...but the progressive originality that exudes from Antitheist will leave the heavy metal world
waiting the day we refer to them as legends the same.
