Originally conceived as a solo project by Ísarnheimr, a few rehearsal tapes and a notorious demo recording were unleashed onto the underground of the following year, notably Svartaháf [September '01] and Ask [March '02]. However, due to political reasons Ísarnheimr was untimely terminated in late autumn 2001. Ísarnheimr, nonetheless, remained an active participant in the nordic black metal underground, using various aliases and contributing to numerous allied projects, recordings and other manifestations.
In 2005 he finally joined forces with Ravngud (vocals) and decided to continue his Ísarnheimr project, producing raw, ravishing and haunting black metal reminiscent of ancient times. The recordings presented here consist of two re-recordings appearing on the Ask demo as well as newly recorded tracks. Ísarnheimr is currently working on new material. -CJ Nordthal.
