Shyy has begun officially its activities in 2007 in the city of São Paulo/Brazil as a project by members of doom metal Abske Fides – Fred, Marcos and Eduardo - based on "depressive" subgenres of black metal but adding more clean and melodic parts and also influenced by others genres like post-punk and 90´s rock. The first demo of Shyy was released at Myspace in 2008 and has 2 instrumental tracks, at that time well appreciated by the fans despite its raw production.
In 2009 Shyy contributed with 2 new tracks to the compilation of Chinese label Pest Productions The World Comes To An End In The End Of Journey, this time with a much better production. The White Sheet Faces The Dark Light and As I Fly mixes distorted guitars with clean parts and harsh vocals with melodic passages.
In 2012 Shyy release three new tracks in The split The Path Toward Forgetfulness with the Italian "…" (dotdotdot) following the same vein of its previous songs but now using more clean vocals like in the song Her, her Landscape and also trying to experiment new synthesisers features as in the song Sobriety.
In 2015, after another 3 years, Shyy started up activities again, this time preparing a full-length with 9 or 10 songs. Now the band has a new line-up, Eduardo left and Kiko (guitar) and Paulo (drum) joined bringing new air. While preparing its full-length for the second half of 2016 Shyy now releases a new demo with 2 songs – Desfalecer (Faint) and Afogar-se (Drown). Unlike their previous songs, both are sung in Portuguese and were produced by its members at Duna Studio in São Paulo.
In 2018 the band finally released its homonymous debut álbum via Pest Productions with 8 tracks all sung in Portuguese, recorded and mixed at Duna Studio by Francisco Bueno (São Paulo – Brazil) and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright (Oregon – USA).
