Anagnorisis traces its roots to 2003, started as a solo project by founding member Austin Lunn. As the years progressed, Anagnorisis - a word derived from the Greek roots "to know again" - evovled in both members and sound. The band released Overton Trees in 2007, a full-length album encompassing the struggles of mental illness, addiction, and the perils of organized religion. Discovering their passion for the extreme, Alpha & Omega (2009), a three song EP debuted the band's love of black metal even further, drawing on the death metal overtones of Overton Trees and a continued disdain for religion.
