 Дебютный альбом финнов Thunderstone пролетел мимо меня. То была первая пластинка, не представляющая собой ничего интересного, хотя своё задание она и выполнила – группа нашла поддержку в лице Nuclear Blast, что уже можно сказать удача неимоверная! А второй диск музыкантов «The Burning» – это действительно сильная и заслуживающая внимания работа. «The Burning» представляет собой весьма качественный финский пауэр, построенный на лучших традициях Стратоваров и далее их развивающий. Альбом характеризуют, как всегда, чисто финские клавиши, меланхоличная и мрачноватая атмосфера, эмоциональный вокал, напоминающий Джонни Джоэлли (Axel Rudi Pell) и, конечно же, красивые и печальные мелодии, которые способны создать на этой земле только финны. Качество записи, как всегда, было реализовано с помощью Микко Кармиллы и Джусиллы. Должен заметить, что Thunderstone хоть и является рождённым в среде клонов, однако в положительную сторону его отличают свои оригинальные идеи и композиторский талант музыкантов. Почти все композиции сочинил лидер коллектива и гитарист Нино Лаурене. Стоит также добавить что в состав группы входит звёздный барабанщик Мирка Рантанен отметившийся своим присутствием в Warmen, Kotipelto и Tunnelvision – а это уже о чём-то говорит. Диск получился на удивление хитовым и цепляющим, тогда как дебютный альбом не оставлял и следа в памяти. Особенно удачными композициями получились открывающая средне темповая «Until We Touch The Burning Sun», энергичная «Break The Emotion», мощная «Mirror Never Lies», печальная и жёсткая «Side By Side», да и все остальные - достаточно яркие и оригинальные вещи. А гениальной и красивейшей балладе «Sea Of Sorrow» позавидовал бы сам Ричи Блэкмор и Аксель Руди Пелл! В целом, альбом вышел очень хорошим. Если так пойдёт и дальше, то о Stratovarius можно будет спокойно забыть… |

На "The Burning" Thunderstone немного отошли от слепого копирования Stratovarius. Теперь типичный финский пауэр соседствует с хард-н-хэви, благо вокал Паси Рантанена к этому располагает. Но на общем итоге эти незначительные перемены не сказались. Материал по-прежнему пресен и клиширован, да и мелодические способности группы крайне ограничены. |
