 Второй сольник Роба Рока вышел с огромным отрывом в три года и его появление, мягко говоря, стало для меня сюрпризом, поскольку никогда не знаешь когда Роб выпустит очередную бомбу, хотя в данный момент поле его компетенции резко сократилось до участия в своём сольном проекте и нескольких сессий проведённых специально для Тобиаса Саммета (Edguy, Avantasia). Вот так вот неторопливо и не гоня лошадей на нашу голову упал «Eyes Of Eternity». Прежде всего, хочется отметить жирнейший звук, который нарулил Рой З (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Helloween, Judas Priest) – теперь уже качество записи спокойно может сравниться с великими. Музыкальный материал, как и на предыдущем альбоме, был создан совместными усилиями Роба Рока и Роя З и представляет собой ностальгический хэви-пауэр в лучших традициях восьмидесятых годов. Как сказано в буклете, в качестве бэк вокалиста выступал Син Пэк (Cage), а в некоторых моментах был привлечён Тобиас Саммет, и хотя прямо это не заметно, но качество самого материала и хитовость отдельных композиций весьма возросла. Единственное с чем Роб не то что бы переборщил, а не рассчитал, так это тема «The Hour Of Dawn» в которой отметились достаточно легендарные гости такие как Джек Фрост (Seven Witches), Том Науман (Sinner, Primal Fear), Аксель Руди Пелл и Гас Джи (Firewind, Mystic Prophecy, Dream Evil), а вот сама песня откровенно скучна. Наиболее привлекает внимание открывающий боевик «Rock The Earth», словно специально придуманный для открытия любого концерта, мистический номер «Stranglehold» несколько нагоняет страху, а грустный заглавный трек «Eyes Of Eternity» явно даёт нам понять, что пауэр метал не последнее звено в музыке группы. Наверное, как взгляд в прошлое, была помещена мощная композиция «Rage Of Creation». Однако есть на диске и совершенно оригинальные и нетипичные вещи, наподобие классного эпического боевика «The Everlasting», по трешевому угарного спид номера «Conqueror’s Hymn» и великолепной баллады «Beautiful Lady», очень удачно помещенной в конце пластинки для успокоения нервов и слуховых органов. В общем, к мелодической стороне альбома претензий быть, как таковых не может, а вот к технической есть. И это, прежде всего, касается вокала Роба, который ужасно задвинут назад, так что музыка его просто-напросто заглушает, ну а второй минус - это вокальные партии в целом, которые почему-то получились некрасивыми, не говоря уже о вокале самого Роба – и это при том, что недавно вышла дивная опера Avantasia, где Рок давал таких чертей, что мало не покажется! Ну да шут с этими вокализами, диск «Eyes Of Eternity» всё равно стабильно хорошая работа, созданная для души каждого нестареющего хэви металиста… |
