 Пятый альбом немецкой прогрессив пауэр металлической группы удивляет своим более тяжёлым саундом по сравнению с предыдущими дисками и, конечно же, грубым и не очень харизматическим вокалом нового вокалиста Томаса Людольфи. Очень жаль, что ушёл оригинальный певец Ян Барнетт, хотя вряд ли это что-то изменило бы, даже если бы можно было услышать его здесь. Новая пластинка немцев выдалась на удивление тягучей, нудноватой и не такой оригинальной и захватывающей как предыдущая «Mephisto». Ясное дело, что «Beyond The Sundown» ни дотягивает до Мефисто не своей эмоциональностью, ни своей цепляемостью. Но вот технические характеристики как всегда на почтенном высоком уровне. Качество записи прекрасное, техничность музыкантов не даёт и намёка на глупость. В общем, к инструментальной части у меня претензий никаких не будет, здесь и так всё чётко и предельно ясно, что ребята не новички и умеют сыграть техничный, но не сильно замороченный прогрессив металл. При прослушивании диска иногда натыкаешься на странные ассоциации. Уж слишком Людольфи напоминает Барнетта, но вот когда приходит время петь спокойным чистым голосом – пропадает вся красота и шарм, которым обладала эта группа. Действительно голос Людольфи не достаточно красивый, а чтобы соревноваться с Барнеттом, у него вообще таланта не хватит. Несмотря на мои критические замечания, ради истины замечу, что музыкальный материал Rough Silk`a до сих пор обладает своим индивидуализмом и своей неповторимой изюминкой. Хотя и впечатления от диска остаются не весьма положительные, пару песен в золотой фонд группы записать можно. Особенно выделяется боевик «Face To Faith» с дёрганной ритм секцией и отличным припевом, а также чрезвычайно тяжёлый и забойный прогрессивный монстр «When Life And Pain Unite», в котором можно найти даже элементы треш металла. Особенно в инструментальной части, где начинается просто жесточайшее рубилово на сумасшедшей скорости. А вот ни одна из баллад на альбоме даже не зацепила меня. Причиной этого может служить отсутствие яркости и свежести мелодий, что, к сожалению применительно не только к медлякам, а и ко всему остальному музыкальному материалу. В целом, альбом «Beyond The Sundown» серьёзно слаб и неинтересен, хотя и назвать его полным провал я не могу. Диск только для фэнов. |
